JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. — Missouri House Republicans want to limit a business property tax and defend the state's automotive manufacturing jobs.House leaders highlighted several economic development proposals Monday designed to assist manufacturing, expand technology sector jobs and spur venture capital investing.The ideas include a concerted effort to convince the Ford Motor Co. to expand in the Kansas City area and tax incentives for companies that invest in developing firms. Lawmakers also proposed gradually eliminating a local tax on commercial property and helping technology-sector companies pay for infrastructure improvements.The Legislature returns to the Capitol on Jan. 6 for the 2010 session.
