TOKYO — Japan's NHK network will not televise a sumo tournament this month because of scandals linked to organised crime, the first time it has scrapped the broadcast in more than 50 years, reports said Tuesday.Japan's sumo authority Sunday fired a stable master and a senior wrestler for illegal gambling as it announced tough punishment for scandals that have exposed the sport's ties to yakuza crime groups.The government-run Japan Broadcasting Corp., or NHK, has televised sumo tournaments live since 1953 and broadcast them on the radio since 1928.The Nagoya Grand Sumo Tournament runs from Sunday to July 25.
