Vick misses golf tourney as travel restricted

TUCKER, Georgia — Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick missed his own celebrity golf tournament this weekend after probation authorities restricted his travel, a Vick spokeswoman said.Judy Smith said Vick's travel has been at the discretion of his probation officer since he was released from federal prison after serving a sentence for his role in a dogfighting ring.The travel limits come after a Virginia prosecutor said that while Vick wasn't involved in a shooting outside a restaurant after his 30th birthday party in Virginia Beach, the player was in a confrontation before the incident.Vick failed to show up Sunday at the Michael Vick Celebrity Golf tournament in Georgia and also did not make a scheduled appearance at a youth football camp in Raleigh, North Carolina, this weekend.Spokespersons for both events said they were notified on Sunday morning that Vick wouldn't make it.Cornelius Corprew, director of Camp Elite Sports' two-day football camp, said he learned from a Vick associate at about 2 am that the player would not attend."We're not crazy. No state agency is communicating at 2 o'clock in the morning that he's not allowed to come," an irked Corprew said. "I think that was a selfish act."He said he was told Saturday by Vick's representatives that the player, who had already received 2,000 dollars of his 4,000-dollar appearance fee, would be there."I'm upset because our camp is built on integrity and character and that's what we teach to our kids," Corprew said.
