DOHA — World number one Lee Westwood shrugged off missing the Qatar Masters cut on Friday, safe in the knowledge that closest rival Martin Kaymer was 10 shots off the lead at the halfway stage.Westwood failed to make the weekend after missing an eagle putt by an inch on his last hole which left him on four over par 148."It?s early season rust, I think - that?s it," Westwood, who was third here last year, told the tournament website."I?m going to go on the range the next couple of days and try to get into some kind of rhythm."Kaymer needs to finish second on Sunday if he is to become only the second German world number one after Bernhard Langer.Kaymer, who shot a 77 in the first round, carded a 70 on Friday to survive the cut by just one shot. But he is 10 shots behind surprise leader Markus Brier of Austria."I really struggled here," said the 26-year-old Kaymer. "I don't know why. I play good golf but I can't score." Copyright © 2011 AFP. All rights reserved. More »
